Setup

Getting started with the app

Setup takes about three minutes. The same steps apply to iPhone and Android, with a couple of Android-specific extras.

  1. 1

    Initial screen

Tap "Get Started" if it’s your first time, or "Log in" if you already have an account. Each person should have their own account — for a family of five, that’s five separate accounts.

  2. 2

    Your details

Enter your name and phone number, then confirm you are 18 or older (only adults receive alarms).

  3. 3

    Email and password

Provide your email and a password. If your email is already in use, contact support to delete the old account or use a different email.

  4. 4

    Permissions

Allow location (set to "Always"), notifications (including critical notifications), Bluetooth (for the safety button), and physical activity. ProTechMe only uses your location during an active alarm.

  5. 5

    Android: extra steps

On Android, also enable "Precise Location" and disable "Remove permissions if app isn’t used" so the OS doesn’t silently turn ProTechMe off when you haven’t opened it in a while.

  6. 6

    Battery optimisation

Allow ProTechMe to run in the background. This is essential — you want the alarm to fire even if you haven’t used the app today.

Groups

Setting up your groups

Create a group

In the app, go to Groups → Create Group. Name it (Family, Colleagues, etc.) and you’ll get a 6-digit code to share.

Join a group

Go to Groups → Join Group and enter the 6-digit code you received from someone in your network.

Leave a group

Open the group in the app, then tap Leave Group.

Prioritise groups

Reorder your groups so the most important one is at the top. Each group gets 30 seconds to respond before the alarm escalates.

ProTechMe — general

ProTechMe is the international brand of Linucare (Aalborg, Denmark). It is a free-to-download alarm app paired with two safety button options — a Bluetooth (BLE) button that pairs with your phone, and a standalone GPS button with built-in eSIM. When you press the alarm, your network — family, friends, colleagues — receives a loud notification with your live location, even if their phones are on silent. If nobody in your network can help, the alarm transfers to the five nearest ProTechMe users in the community.
A group is a circle of people you want to send alarms to (and receive alarms from). Family, friends, neighbours, classmates — you decide. When you’re in a group together, you can send and receive alarms with each other. Unlimited groups are included for free for private users.
You can prioritise which group is alerted first. Each group has 30 seconds to respond before the alarm escalates to the next prioritised group, and finally to the community fallback.
Yes. ProTechMe uses critical notifications, which break through silent and do-not-disturb on both iOS and Android.
In India and the EU, the unified emergency number is 112. ProTechMe is built around 112 as the third-tier escalation. Legacy Indian numbers like 100 (police) and 102 (ambulance) still work, but 112 is the recommended single point of contact.
The ProTechMe app is completely free for private users — alarm, trusted contacts, community fallback, two-way voice, Apple Watch trigger, all included. The safety button is a one-time purchase. For business and NGO deployments, we tailor pricing to the team — talk to our team.

App features

Yes. Create multiple groups and prioritise them. The first prioritised group has 30 seconds to respond before the alarm goes to the next.
The app includes a built-in chat function and supports two-way voice (works like a normal phone call). You can also send a preset message automatically with the alarm — for example, "My medication is in the cabinet above the sink."
You can choose between four alarm sounds, enable a sound on your own phone when you send an alarm (so you know it went out), and set a preset message that’s sent automatically with the alarm.

The safety button

Choose the BLE button if you always carry your smartphone — it’s small, runs up to 3 years on a CR2032 cell, and pairs over Bluetooth (range up to 200 m to your phone). Choose the GPS button if you need a standalone device — built-in eSIM, GPS, and two-way voice, no phone required. Already deployed at Vestas (Denmark), with a pilot at Grundfos India.
Open the ProTechMe app, go to the safety button section, and follow the on-screen pairing flow. The button connects via Bluetooth 5.2 and stays paired with your phone.
3 years on the standard CR2032 cell, depending on usage. The cell is replaceable. The app warns you when the battery is running low.
Yes — designed for everyday use including rain. It’s water resistant for everyday wear; not designed for prolonged submersion.
The GPS button has a built-in eSIM, GPS, and two-way voice. It works on its own without a paired phone — right for lone workers, factories where phones are restricted, and users who don’t carry a smartphone.
