Delete your account.
Two ways to do it: from inside the app, or by asking us — the second one works even if you have already uninstalled it.
This page covers the ProTechMe app for iOS and Android. It explains how to delete your account, what that removes, and the few things we have to keep afterwards.

Option 1 — delete it in the app
This is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us. Open the ProTechMe app while you are still signed in and use the delete-account option in your account settings.
Uninstalling the app is not the same thing. Removing it from your phone stops it running, but your account and its data stay on our side until the account itself is deleted — so do this first, or use option 2 below.
Option 2 — ask us to delete it
Use this if you have already uninstalled the app, cannot sign in, or would simply rather we did it.
Email us
Write to contact@protechme.com with the subject Account deletion request. That link prefills it for you.
Tell us which account
Include the name, email address and phone number on the account. Sending it from the email address registered on the account is the quickest way for us to confirm it is you.
We confirm it is you, then delete it
If we cannot match the request to an account from what you have sent, we will come back and ask — we will not delete an account on an unverified request, because doing so would let someone else switch off your alarm.
We answer within one month
That is the deadline the GDPR sets us, and it is the outside limit rather than the normal wait. You will get a message confirming when it is done.

What deletion removes

| Alarm and incident records | Your alarm history is deleted with the account. |
| Location | Any position held in connection with your account goes with it. |
| Your preset alarm message | Free text you wrote yourself, sometimes about a medical condition. It is deleted with the account, and you can also empty the field at any time before that. |
Your ProTechMe button is hardware you own and stays yours — but it raises an alarm through the app, so with no account there is nothing for it to send an alarm through.
What we have to keep, and for how long
Two things outlive the account. We would rather say so here than have you find out later.

| Backups | Deleted data ages out of backups on the backup cycle rather than the instant you press delete. | Backups are written as whole snapshots. Nothing is restored from them into live use once your account is gone. |
Support correspondence is kept for as long as it takes to handle the matter and any follow-up.
It cannot be undone
Treat deletion as final: plan on not getting the account, its contacts or its history back. If you want to use ProTechMe again afterwards, you sign up again from scratch and set your safety network up again.
If your account came from an employer
Accounts issued to you as part of a workplace or organisation deployment are managed by whoever set them up. Ask them first — they can remove your account from their deployment. Write to us at contact@protechme.com if that goes nowhere and we will help you sort it out.

Deleting your data is one of your rights under the GDPR, alongside asking for a copy of it, correcting it or objecting to a particular use. The privacy policy lists them all and tells you how to complain if you are not happy with our answer.
